How to Cut a Lace Wig to Fit Your Hairline

Creating a lace front wig is a long, meticulous process that can take several hours to several days. Once the wig is complete, the excess lace that hangs over the forehead must be trimmed back into the wig for the most natural look. This is a delicate process that takes a steady hand, a good pair of scissors and a lot of patience. Since a lace front wig does not reach all the way around to the nape of the neck, this process will be shorter and a little easier than a full wig.
1. Find the center of the front of the lace wig and slide the thin hair clip vertically to mark the position. There should be two even lace pieces on each side of the clip.

2. Clip the hair on either side of the center-marking clip back using the two large hair clips. This will keep any stray hairs from being cut.
3. Cut away about a quarter-inch of the lace all around the front and sides of the wig. Do this using long, fluid scissor strokes to avoid jagged edges. It is best to cut away small portions of lace instead of all of it at once, since cutting away too much lace will ruin the wig.
4. Remove the center-marking clip. Keep the hair clipped back, adjusting the clips as necessary.
5. Cut the lace back towards the beginning of the hairline in the front. The lace that is on the forehead will be the most visible, so it should be cut back all the way to the hairline. Pull the lace tight with your fingers while cutting to ensure even, smooth strokes.
6. Trim the sides of the lace front wig so that only about an eighth-inch of lace protrudes out from under the hairline. It is not necessary to cut the lace all the way back on the sides, since this part is not as visible as the forehead area.

4 Points You Should Know When Choosing A Human Hair Wig

When you try to purchase a human hair wig, what will come to your mind first? The hair color? The hair density? Or the wig cap constructions? If you are not so sure, this email would be a great help.

HAIR COLOR

For some women, who would prefer the wig with their natural hair color, we recommend them to compare their hair with color samples under natural light to determine which color sample looks like their own.

CAP CONSTRUCTION

Often, people get confused when it comes to how to use a wig cap or how to choose the best wig cap to wear. But, it’s really quite simple. Just as with wig colors and styles, you also have a few different cap options available: Full lace, Lace front, Glueless full lace and Silk top. The wig cap is where the synthetic fibers or human hairs are attached to create the wig. Cap construction has come a long way over the years, and now offer more comfortable and secure options to cause little to no irritation of the scalp.

Full lace wigs may have a base made entirely of lace while the more common tactic is a lace front wig which has the sheer lace only at the front where the hairline is visible. Full lace wigs can be pulled into a high ponytail and up-do’s, as opposed to lace front wigs. The lace is only in the front half of the wig, to allow the customer to part the hair any way he or she wants. If a lace front wig is pulled into a ponytail it will be obvious that it is a wig.

If you want the Full lace wig to look natural and stay secure, you will need to use the glue or tape. However, if you don’t like to apply either of them into the wig, you can choose the glueless full lace cap, which is the full lace cap installed with clips and adjustable straps in the back. It’s easy to apply and remove because it is applied with no glue, no tape or other adhesives. If you want a wig of 100% invisible hairline, you may prefer a silk top (glueless) full lace wig. There is a layer of lace which is made of silk fabric on the top front of the silk top cap. When the hair is knotted, it will be concealed between the layers. It’s hard to notice the knots it will give you the nice feeling that it seems like the hair is actually growing out of your scalp, thus very naturally looking.

CAP SIZE

If you want to purchase a wig perfectly fit to your head, it is very important to choose the right cap size.

HAIR DENSITY

Some people want thick hair while others are pleased with thin hair. Density is the measurement of how thin or how thick the hair is. The standard and common choice is 130%, the medium density, and there are 2 more higher densities available: 150% and 180%. Most people would like to choose the medium density of 130%.

How to Choose the Right Lace Wig Cap

There are many different wig cap types. Each cap type has its own advantages and disadvantages. What really matters is what cap type works best for your lifestyle and hair needs. Each cap type is listed below so you can figure out which cap will work best for you.

French Lace

French lace can be used on any lace wig type. French lace is used for most synthetic lace wigs and many high grade lace wigs as well. The difference between French lace and other laces is the durability and thickness. French lace is the most durable lace type for those who are on the go and do not have time to be super delicate with their wig. While you still need to be careful when handling the lace, it is not so fine where you will easily tear it.

French lace is undetectable in most cases but it is not the most undetectable lace type. For anyone seeking a lace wig that is more affordable and has a quick application, French lace wig cap wigs typically deliver.

Swiss Lace

Swiss lace can also be used on all lace wig types. Swiss lace is the most undetectable lace and is very delicate. This is its pro and con. To be so undetectable, the Swiss lace must be super fine. Being so fine, it is easy to tear and damage.

If you do purchase a Swiss lace cap on your lace wig, you should have it professionally installed unless you are skilled in applying them yourself. If you are beginner, it is better to have someone else apply it.

Full Lace

Full lace is not necessarily a cap type since it is either made of French lace, Swiss lace, or any of the other cap materials. However, it is a lace wig type that needs to be chosen for your lifestyle and hair needs. Full lace wigs are a great option for those who want all of their hair protected and have minimal daily styling.

Full lace wigs cover your full head from hairline to nape. The part can be placed anywhere and a high ponytail or updo can be achieved. Full lace wigs are usually more expensive but the extra cost is worth it to those who do not have time to blend hair or need to put their hair in a professional updo for work.

Lace Front

lace Front wigs are similar to full lace because they can be made from any cap material, typically French or Swiss lace. The front lace wig allows the wearer to part their hair in the front few inches only as the majority of the wig is a traditional wig base.

Some front lace wigs include lace at the nape for updo styling. However, the majority do not. If you are someone who does not care about highponytails and parting all over, a front lace wig is a good option. Front lace wigs are typically less expensive and are available more readily.

Silk Top

Silk tops are perhaps the most undetectable cap type. A silk cap has 2 layers. The first layer which is the bottom layer is the lace. The top layer is made of a silk cap. The knots of the hairs are hidden between these two layers so that no bleaching of knots is required.

Undetectable knots make it appear that hair is growing directly from your scalp. Knots are the ends of the hair strands knotted onto the lace. Since these are so dark and give an unnatural appearance, many people purchase bleached knots or bleach the knots themselves. To bypass the method, simply hide the knots all together!

How To Cut Extra Lace

Creating a lace front wig is a long, meticulous process that can take several hours to several days. Once the wig is complete, the excess lace that hangs over the forehead must be trimmed back into the wig for the most natural look. This is a delicate process that takes a steady hand, a good pair of scissors and a lot of patience. Since a lace front wig does not reach all the way around to the nape of the neck, this process will be shorter and a little easier than a full wig.

Instructions
1.Find the center of the front of the lace wig and slide the thin hair clip vertically to mark the position.

7. Double check the trimmed lace to ensure that there are no jagged edges. Make sure the lace is cut completely even, especially around the forehead area.

The excess lace is your what is known as “Your box is your guarantee’. Should your new wig not have the excess lace on, please do not accept it as it might not be new. You are only to cut off the extra lace once you have made sure the the unit fits your head perfectly and that there are no bald patches and tears in your unit. Only whilst it still has the lace on can it be returned. You cut off the excess lace as close to the hairline as possible taking effort not to cut off any of the babyhairs, if you get one or two that is fine, but be very careful.
