Does the silk base topper is perfect for everyone?

Topper has been a bomb in hair product market , we never know that we can deal with the thinning hair only by a piece of hair topper which has less cost than wig, and breathable than any hat.

I want to purchase a topper, but where should I start?

Many people want to purchase a topper but have no clue at all about how to choose one and which kind of topper will fit them best. By asking yourself these questions it will help you get somewhere step by step.

1. What is the purpose of buying a topper? Is it just for adding hair volume or to cover the hair thinning area?
To add hair volume, you have many choices about the size. Usually a small size like 5×5 or 5.5×5.5 can provide enough coverage with no problem.
To cover the hair thinning area, you need to measure your own cap size first. Is it 5×5, 6×6, 6×7, 8×9 or even bigger? After knowing your cap size, you can narrow your choices to a few specific hair topper options.

2. What kind of base do you like?
Usually there are 3 kinds of bases on the market, and they are Lace base, Monofilament base and Silk top base.
Monofilament base allows a smooth skin base top that resembles your own natural scalp. A mono-top mimics the look of natural hair growth and provides hair parting for the greatest versatility in styling.

This is another great choice if you want to ensure that the front hairline simulates your own. It is very light-weight and breathable which is perfect for hot days!

This is the most realistic scalp the market has to offer today. It perfectly hides the knots and you don’t need to worry about any other techniques to make the knots invisible or less visible.

Silk top base has three layers of bases to create the most natural hairline. Thus it requires a certain technique to make it lay flat on the head and look natural on you. It is not recommended that beginners choose a silk top base. On the other hand, lace base is most breathable and easy to fit the head shape. However, you need glue to secure it in the front, hence it is also not the best option for beginners. All in all, Monofilament base might be a good choice for beginners.

3. What hair material do you like? Human hair or Synthetic fiber?
Human hair is just like your own hair and it is the choice of 90% customers. For human hair, you also can dye it, flatten it, and curl it. However, synthetic fiber is more economic.

4. What texture do you like?
You can choose the texture that you like. It has many options like natural straight, body wave, loose wave, curl, etc.

5. What color do you choose?
Not like a full wig, a slight difference of the color will not matter. For a topper, you need to pick a color that will exactly match with your own bio hair and this fact makes this step the most difficult one. As I hung up the phone, a wave of dread overtook the perfect joy I had just experienced. My oldest son had called to let me know that he planned to ask his girlfriend, his soulmate, to marry him. All mothers pray for this moment-that their children will meet the right person to share their life with. And, I was beyond thrilled about this news. Visions of a perfect wedding flashed through my mind. Suddenly, they stopped abruptly on my head-my hair, actually. I couldn’t see the beauty of the bride and groom. I only envisioned the wedding photos and how I would ruin them with my messed-up hair. That was the way I saw myself-a balding photobomber who ruined every photo, every video. This moment that should have been celebrated turned into panic.

Over two decades ago, about 18 months after the birth of my second son, I began dealing with permanent hair loss. Most women experience hair shedding after they deliver a baby due to changes in their hormonal chemistry, but that gradually reverses itself and they regain any lost hair. It’s not permanent. However, that wasn’t the case for me. My hair just didn’t stop shedding, and what came out never returned. So, I went to see my OB/GYN and she referred me to a connective tissue specialist for an appraisal of my condition. The doctor took a scalp biopsy and told me that I had Androgenic Alopecia-a genetic or pattern baldness experienced by both men and women. It is inherited from one or both parents and can be triggered by hormones at any time after puberty. Hair is lost at the front, top, and the crown of the scalp. The hair loss can vary from thinning to complete baldness. It is estimated that around 50% of women over the age of 65 experience female-pattern baldness.

Now knowing that I had Androgenic Alopecia, I had to slowly come to grips with the fact that most of the hair I lost wouldn’t be coming back. I stopped coloring my hair because I could see that the chemicals in the hair dye caused me additional issues-weakening the hand strands and creating more fallout. Having a fully gray head at that age left me looking older than I was and older than my friends. But, I just didn’t see any other alternative. I struggled to style my progressively thinning hair, pulling it back in a sparse ponytail for many years and wearing fabric headbands to hide my thinning hairline. Yet every day, I knew it was getting worse, and I wouldn’t be able to camouflage it any longer.

As it turned out, the engagement announcement was the moment that led me to search for a resolution to my problem. Hitting YouTube hard, I watched dozens of videos about hair loss, which led me to wigs and wig review videos. Seeing that wigs were NOT the sweaty, molded-cap designs they were in years past, I started to entertain the idea of purchasing one. Certainly, I would have to do it quickly if I was going to find a wig and get used to wearing one before my son’s wedding. I purchased my first wig. I immediately fell in love with her, and she was in a price range that seemed reasonable for a first wig. The day she arrived, I was SO nervous! What if I looked terrible in a wig? I would have to attend the wedding and find places to hide to avoid the photographer. I know that sounds so vain, but women count on their hair to create their look. Without it, you have to redefine your identity. It’s not easy to do without your hair!

Wearing a wig to my son’s wedding gave me courage and built back up the self-esteem I had lost so many years ago. I got many compliments on my “hair,” and when the wedding festivities were over, I was ready to add to my alternative hair collection.

This question has been frequently asked because most customers are new to this product. They never realized that there is a product which can be meant specially for them except for the wigs and extensions. So, how can you choose a perfect topper? What should you know before making the decision?

1.You have to know how severe your hair loss is.
 If you only have a thinning parting line, or you don’t have any serious hair loss at all and just want to add to your hair volume, congratulations! You have plenty of options at the base size and construction. Toppers are designed not only for those who are hair loss sufferers, but also for those who would like to have a better volume or a perfect hairstyle for occasions such as weddings or parties.

2. In addition to determining the base size, you should know which type of construction would be the best-suited to your needs.

Let’s take UniWigs for example. There are a wide variety of base construction options such as silk top, mono topper and lace topper. So, what’s the difference between these various types?

1. By sending a hair sample to them. This would be the easiest way, but it takes a longer time.

3. By choosing a natural black topper and getting it dyed. Please be aware that only the natural black can be bleached, and that all of the other colors can only be dyed into darker tone.

4 . How to choose the right length
For the straight item, you can choose the length according to the picture shown below:

For the wavy topper the hair length should be measured from the hair root to the hair bottom when the hair is set straight. The curly and wavy wigs have been produced from straight wigs, so for the same length, a curly or wavy wig will be shorter by 1″-2″ than the straight wig.
