Getting to know the Workmanship of Wigs

Human Hair Wigs, especially hand-tied wigs, are becoming more and more popular because of their soft and comfortable cap materials and high quality knotted workmanship.

Different hair knotting methods can produce a different performance and result. The quality of the wig workmanship has a great impact on the appearance of finished products, especially for 100% hand-tied wigs.

Single knot is considered the best method of knotting which produces a tiny knot for each individual hand-tied hair by the workers. Two or three individual hairs can be single knotted at one time by speeding up the process which can be detrimental to creating a larger knot with less aesthetically pleasing finishes by worker, which is popular for full lace wigs.

Double knots techniques involve knotting the hair twice to produce a double knot, which in turn provides a stronger and more robust knot. The resulting knots are, however, more visible under close inspection. This is a problem when trying to create a natural hairline and for this reason most front hairlines should be single hair, or single knotted on a flesh tone lace material, which is also popular for full lace wigs.

Single Knots are hard to detect, but easy to shed. By contrast, double Knots are hard to shed, but easy to detect. For the advantages and the disadvantages of the two types of knots, usually uniwigs recommend single knots at the frontal hairline 2 inches or around a perimeter of 2 inches especially for full lace wigs. This means the knots are hidden under the inside mesh (There are two pieces of mesh), and are completely invisible, giving off the impression that the hair is growing out of the scalp. This is the best method to hide the knots at present, but the procedure of processing is very complete.

Hair injection techniques refers to the method of inserting a series of hairs through a layer of polyurethane before coating the underside of the base with a single layer of liquid form polyurethane. Upon setting (or curing) the inserted hairs remain trapped between the two transparent layers. Hair injection is a relatively new method of hair attachment, becoming increasingly popular due to its natural appearance and knot free style. This workmanship is usually asked for by Skin top wigs / French top wigs.

Lace Front Wigs have been around for a very long time! They come in many styles, lengths, fibres, and specifications, and often cost more than regular synthetic wigs. I chose to centre-part the front, and pin each side back with a bow. I think the effect is really cute! Paired with glasses and a sweater, many people commented that I looked like a librarian, or teacher.

You can see that the color is a really natural blend, and it suits my skin tone. The style has a gentle wave. This wig can be styled with heat gently, but I like the natural current wave, so I will leave it as it is.

You can see the hairline more closely here. The original intention of lace front wig wear is to cut the lace, and glue it to your forehead. That way, you can continually wear it for a week or more. It’s popular with short haired women. It’s not really practical for people with long hair to glue it.

When worn for Coplay, often the lace will be cut and the wig will be pinned down, instead of glued.

I haven’t cut my lace yet. For this above photo, I tucked the lace in on itself. You can see a slight seam, but it’s not hugely noticeable.

It’s been really awesome to finally try a lace front wig! I’ll definitely be buying more. I hope to buy some in pastel colors- it would really confuse people trying to tell if it was a wig or not!

How to Care for Curly Synthetic Lace Front Wigs

Synthetic lace front wigs can be short, long, straight or curly in a variety of colors with competitive price. Generally, synthetic wigs are easy to care. However, curly synthetic lace front wigs require extra care and attention to retain their styles.

The following tips are about how to care for curly synthetic lace front wigs.

1. Seal the underside of the lace front wig to prevent hair from shedding out of the wig.

2. Sprinkle baking soda or powder in the wig to remove shine when the wig is brand new. Leave the wig for a few days and it will look less like a synthetic wig and more like natural hair.

3. Do not comb or brush the wigs to avoid curls loose and fizzy issues. Instead, use your hands to define the curls.

5. Trim off any sections of the wig that have become irredeemably frizzy to keep it neat.

What makes Mother’s Day special to me is two things: getting a free pass out of normal mom work like laundry, cleaning, cooking and the like, and getting to spend time with my family. It’s easy and as long as you are willing to do, she will know.

Have a day off and stay with Mom.

This should be the absolute minimum you do to celebrate Mother’s Day. No matter how much busy you are, you have to leave this day free and spend the day together with her, talk with her, or do something with her and help her with the thing she is doing. Remember, stay with her on this special day.

Have a surprise party.

Not every mom will want a surprise party on Mother’s Day, so be sensitive to what the mom in your life will enjoy. I happen to love parties and especially love surprise parties, so the idea of having a surprise party on Mother’s Day — one at which the dads and kids are responsible for all the planning, prepping and cleanup — sounds insanely fun. You have to be serious about pulling this off right, though. No fair planning it and then making Mom handle the cleanup. Do it all.

 

Family Get-together

Have a family movie in the evening.

Family time is important for most moms, and finding time to do things together gets more and more difficult as kids get older and have their own social circles, jobs and events. So dedicate Mother’s Day night to a special family movie night. Mom gets to pick the movies.
