How to Cut a Lace Wig to Fit Your Hairline

Creating a lace front wig is a long, meticulous process that can take several hours to several days. Once the wig is complete, the excess lace that hangs over the forehead must be trimmed back into the wig for the most natural look. This is a delicate process that takes a steady hand, a good pair of scissors and a lot of patience. Since a lace front wig does not reach all the way around to the nape of the neck, this process will be shorter and a little easier than a full wig.
1. Find the center of the front of the lace wig and slide the thin hair clip vertically to mark the position. There should be two even lace pieces on each side of the clip.

 

2. Clip the hair on either side of the center-marking clip back using the two large hair clips. This will keep any stray hairs from being cut.
3. Cut away about a quarter-inch of the lace all around the front and sides of the wig. Do this using long, fluid scissor strokes to avoid jagged edges. It is best to cut away small portions of lace instead of all of it at once, since cutting away too much lace will ruin the wig.
4. Remove the center-marking clip. Keep the hair clipped back, adjusting the clips as necessary.
5. Cut the lace back towards the beginning of the hairline in the front. The lace that is on the forehead will be the most visible, so it should be cut back all the way to the hairline. Pull the lace tight with your fingers while cutting to ensure even, smooth strokes.
6. Trim the sides of the lace front wig so that only about an eighth-inch of lace protrudes out from under the hairline. It is not necessary to cut the lace all the way back on the sides, since this part is not as visible as the forehead area.

Why there is a hole in the lace?

Hello everyone. Last week we got an email from a customer who came from Missouri, her order number is 100016543, this is the picture she send to us:

I received my unit this evening. The product I have received is in poor condition, of poor quality and appears to be, “used.”  There are two holes in the front of the lace.

From this picture, u would see , there are two holes on the front lace. Well, i am 100% sure this is a brand new wig. Please  let me explain why it has these holes.

U know our wigs are all handmade, so while the workers start weaving the hair , they need use tools to hold the cap on the model’s head first, like nails. So it is unavoidable to leave the holes. By the way, while u put the wig on , u have to cut the front lace and make it looks natural . So the holes will not effect the wig style at all.

So dear customers don’t get shocked if u find couple holes on the front lace , because those holes means our hard working people tried their best to offer u a fantastic uniwigs product.  Always believe in uniwigs and believe your choice.

Dear customer , thank u for your question. U said your closure sheds crazy. Well,There are a lot reasons would cause this .
First maybe the way u comb it. Never comb a wig when its wet ! There was a customer worn a wet wig went to bed and next morning half of the hair were gone. When u brush a wet wig or like this lady worn it sleep which damage the fibers a lot and also will break the knots.that’s why the hair falls off.
While u brush it ,pick a wild tooth comb , start from here and brush to the roots. Gently brush the wig to remove teasing and tangling. Like this ……

How to Maintenance Human Hair Wigs

  1. Please don’t color human hair wigs by yourselves. It is a very risky experiment and might have a bad result. However, if you still prefer to dye your own wigs, please keep in mind that you should never try to dye a darker color wig into a lighter color. Strongly recommend to ask the professional hairdresser to trim, shape or thin out the wig.
  2. NEVER sleep on wet hair; your hair must be completely dry before going to sleep as sleeping on a wet lace wig WILL cause hair to be very matted.
  3. Don’t soak the hand-tied human hair wigs for a long time since it will damage the knots in the wigs. When you wash the wig, please treat it very carefully just like your own hair.
  4. Choose a slightly acidic shampoo, use hair conditioner and wash in mild water.
  5. Make sure the water flows in the same direction during washing and avoid rubbing the wig heavily.
  6. Do not comb or brush the wet wig. Style the wig when it is dry.
  7. Gently blot excess water with hand or towel (do not twist or brush); shake vigorously and hang upside down to air dry (usually overnight). Do not blow dry the wig. Do not brush wig when wet. Do not wear the wig with wet cap or dry wig on head or Styrofoam, as this will stretch the cap.
  8. Using a wig brush on a wig is okay but, I suggest using a METAL WIDE TOOTH COMB.
  9. Refrain from pulling the comb forcefully through the tangles. Pulling will not only pull the hair off of the “tracks” of the wig but the pulling. Spray your wig with a light oil sheen to restore luster that was lost while getting rid of the tangles.
  10. For straight styles brush in long, even, gentle strokes. Starting at the bottom, gently comb the hair using a downward motion, with a wide-tooth comb or finger style. Gradually move up until you have combed all the hair. Never begin combing at the top or middle. It will damage and tangle the hair.
  11. It is very normal for the human hair wig to have certain amount of shedding.
  12. Please store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head in a cool, dry location avoiding extreme temperatures, mold and dust, which will help maintain the shape, cleanliness and style of your wig.
